The Morphological Study of the Paranasal Sinuses in Korean Cases

Abstract
I1I. Statistical Study on the Roentgenographic Life Size of the Normal Frontal and Maxillary Sinuses
In order that gather standard value of the life size of the normal frontal and maxillary sinuses, series of measurement were¢¥ made on 200 cases of the frontal sinuses including 126 males and 74 females, and 220 cases of the maxillary sinuses including 134 males and 86 females, with over 14 to 40 years of age.
Observation was carried in relation to the size as vertical and transversal diameter of the sinuses, and got the following results.
1. The length from X-ray film to central point of the paranagal sinuses with lateral viewed X-ray shadow by the preliminary study revealed as Table 1. The average length from the film to central point of the frontal sinuses is 14.74 mm, and of the maxillary sinuses is 37.55 mm.
2. -The size of the frontal and the maxillary sinuses with postero-anterior viewed X-ray. film shows, Table 2, and the real size of the frontal and the maxillary sinuses were mathematically computed, as Table 3 shows. `
3. In general, the size of the frontal and the maxillary sinuses in *man is greater than in woman cases.
4. Synthetically reviewed results in this study shows Table 8, and this means the standard value of the life size of the normal frontal and maxillary sinuses in Korean cases.
